When David Hawk called on behalf of the Nomination and Election Committee and asked if I would be willing to have my name placed in nomination for the office of Secretary/Editor it didn’t take me long to say yes. What an honor and privilege it would be to serve the HoD in this capacity. I have been a Member of AAPG for over 37 years and have spent 17 of those serving in the HoD. During that time, I have either chaired or served on almost every committee within the HoD. I have seen many changes that have taken place in the House. Not always does everyone agree, but in the end we are a stronger Association for the well-informed debate. I have enjoyed the ability to communicate with my fellow delegates and debate with them on issues regarding the need for changes in our constitution and bylaws and the way in which we manage ourselves in the HoD. I look forward to communicating with our members in the HoD and publishing The Delegates’ Voice. I would like to thank Jim Gibbs, Pat Gratton, Stan Pittman, Valary Schulz and, my late and best friend, Tom Mairs for their mentoring me along the way. Without their support, none of this would have been possible. If elected as Secretary/Editor, I will continue the fine work of the recent and past Secretary/Editors and be committed to communicating and disseminating information between Delegates, the Executive Committee and all Members of AAPG. I believe we just can’t be takers, we have to give something back and this will be an opportunity for me to do so.
