Carol M. Lucas

House Long Service Award Recipient

Carol MacDonald Lucas received her B.S. degree in geology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1974 and has worked in the Petroleum industry since graduation. Carol worked for a number of companies encompassing our industry ranging from E&P to service companies.

Carol joined AAPG in 1975 and was a delegate from Houston to the House of Delegates starting in 1986 until 1995 and from the European Region from 2002 until 2007. She served as chair for both regions.

She was Secretary for the National House in 1994 and started the Delegates Dialog with the intent of increasing communications between regions. She was also a member of the DPA. In addition, she is a past Treasurer and Secretary for the Houston Geological Society, where she was the recipient of the President’s award.

During her stay in Switzerland Carol was very active in the European region. She set up the first European Region newsletter in 2006. This was the first of its kind and is now well established as a means for communication within the Region. During this time she also actively recruited members to the House of Delegates thus ensuring the continued representation of the European Region in the House. Carol also set up a system to evaluate member’s applications in the Region thus fostering the communication between the European Delegates on a regular basis and ensuring that applicants meet the high standards for AAPG members.
