HoD 2011 Officer Candidates
HoD Chair-Elect

I am honored to stand as a candidate for the HoD Chair-Elect position and I thank the Nominating Committee for the opportunity to serve the AAPG in the House of Delegates. AAPG is a vital part of my professional career and I will work to the best of my abilities to serve in this leadership position if elected.
I will bring an experienced perspective to the position since I have been an AAPG member since 1975, a Delegate since 1986, and have served on the Advisory Council and as the Convention General Chair for Denver ACE in 2009. Over the years, the HoD has lead the way in making many beneficial changes as our professional association has grown into a large geological society with a diverse, worldwide membership. As AAPG members we share a dedication to quality science, high professional standards and an excitement about expanding energy-related geologic knowledge through a dynamic global association of geologists.
The House of Delegates represents AAPG members, Sections and Regions. The HoD Chair coordinates its committees to update the AAPG Constitution and Bylaws as discussed, debated and voted on by the Delegates at the annual convention. I will work with past and present HoD leadership to maintain transparency and to provide continuity in changes that are needed. This work is a vital part of the AAPG governance and it lays the groundwork for how AAPG’s goals will be achieved. The HoD Chair also serves on the AAPG Executive Committee and I would be an informed voice on that committee.
The HoD Chair must appreciate a broad perspective from new members, as well as long-time members and I will strive to do this and to make AAPG the “indispensable” global association for energy geologists. I look forward to an opportunity to work with all my fellow AAPG Delegates and officers to make an expanding and vibrant future for all AAPG members.
