Constitution & Bylaws Committee

The Constitution and Bylaws Committee consists of seven members including the Chair, who serve for staggered two-year terms. This year we have a very experienced team; Vice Chair David Entzminger (Southwest), Edie Allison (Eastern), Don Clarke (Pacific), Steven Goolsby (Rocky Mountain), John Hogg (Canada) and Clint Moore (Gulf Coast). It gives me great pleasure to welcome them all on board.
At the annual meeting this committee will make their recommendations on any amendments to the House, and will explain the purpose, function, and significance of such amendments. Amendments that they wish to propose will be submitted at least 90 days prior to the annual meeting to the Chair of the House for placement on the agenda.
The House of Delegates leadership has already passed ideas to us for two amendments for consideration. One we shall work on with Chair-elect Jeff Lund addresses how to more smoothly bring student membership into “active” membership while still honoring the experience requirements for our Association. The goal here is to try and prevent newly hired students from joining AAPG but slipping into a state of “associate membership” which some fail to change when they achieve the required experience. The other is to work with Sandi Barber’s Resolutions Committee and introduce “gender neutral” language to the Constitution and Bylaws.
