Committee Reports
Newsletter Committee
As the Secretary/Editor of the House of Delegates, I am also responsible for the HoD Newsletter Committee. The Committee should consist of two or more members. This past year the members were:
- Steve Sonnenberg, Chair, Denver, Colorado
- David Hawk, Chair-elect, Boise, Idaho
In addition to the committee members, I also had strong support from the staff at AAPG Headquarters in Tulsa, especially Linda Ramsey who is responsible for the layout of The Delegates’ Voice, Regina Gill assisted with editing, Linda Burris and Janet Brister assisted with the electronic distribution of the DV. Regina also assists with the minutes of the HoD meeting at the AAPG Annual Meeting in New Orleans and the minutes at the Mid-Year HoD meeting in Breckenridge.
The Delegates’ Voice is published quarterly. Since this is your Voice, we actively invite letters and submissions on any issues effecting our organization throughout this coming year.
This year marks a turning point with The Delegates’ Voice going digital. This proved to be very successful for the ability to include more information and having the publication sent to all Active AAPG Members. As part of this digital mailing, AAPG Headquarters is able to track the statistics of the number of individuals opening the e-mails and the number of links within the e-mail announcement that are clicked on. The table below provides a summary of the readership of the digital The Delegate’s Voice:
| Fall 2009 | Winter 2010 | |
| Delivered | 17,990 | 18,262 |
| Opened | 4,816 | 4,867 |
| Links Clicked | 1,051 | 852 |
Ideally, a future goal would be to increase the members reading the publication. Overall, this is an improvement 1) to be able to track who is reading the publication; 2) the cost savings for printing and mailing; and 3) these numbers are overall larger than the total number of recipients who received a paper copy of The Delegates’ Voice prior to the Fall of 2009.
