HOD OFFICER CANDIDATES

HoD Secretary/Editor

H W 'DUB' PEACE II

EXAD (owner), Advising & Consulting Oil Law Records, Chairman of the Board

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Born: 1935, Clinton, Oklahoma

I am quite honored to have been selected as a nominee candidate for the position of Secretary/Editor of the House of Delegates. Should I be elected I will strive to my utmost to fulfill all the duties and responsibilities incumbent in this position. I have been a Junior Member and then an Active Member of AAPG since 1964 and a Delegate or Alternate Delegate to the HoD continuously since 1985 representing the Oklahoma City Geological Society. There have been many items of note and changes in the 23 HoD sessions I have attended as a voting Delegate during this period and believe it has been an honor to be involved in our process of determining what course the AAPG charts for itself. Many of the changes or non-changes approved by the HoD succeed by only a slight majority. That majority may not have been the majority if all delegates were present and voting. Though we have a quorum there has always been several delegates not in attendance which if present and voting may have changed the results. If elected as Secretary/Editor, working with the other HoD officers, I will make a concerted effort to encourage each member Society ensure it be fully represented by its Delegates at any HoD meeting. Further, if elected I believe the Officers of the HoD should institute a review of how the number of Delegates are allocated to each Society or Region based upon the Rule of 1 Delegate per 70 AAPG members.

It has been my privilege during my career to have worked as an explorationist, supervisor, manager, officer and director of either major, independent or non-operating mineral owning companies. I have experience in most U.S. Basins. Because of being totally involved in my various company activities it was mostly impossible to attempt to be more active in the AAPG than the time I put in as a Delegate. Upon retirement as CEO of Panhandle Royalty Company 3 ½ years ago, I now have the time as a “consultant” to involve myself more into the details, operation and future of my professional organization–the AAPG. In this regard, I was able in 2008-09 to participate as a member of the HoD Constitution & Bylaws Committee. Should you deem I be your HoD Secretary/Editor, I pledge to devote all my efforts to informing Delegates, to the best of my ability in a timely and accurate manner, of all matters affecting our duties as Delegates.
