Update from the Advisory Council
The Advisory Council met for a marathon session in Tulsa during AAPG Leadership Days at the end of August. The primary purpose of the session was to determine recipients of AAPG Awards and to recommend the slate of nominees to the Executive Committee. The AAPG has selected an outstanding slate of awardees this year.
Currently, a primary function of the Advisory Council is to nominate officer candidates to stand for office on the Executive Committee. If you have an officer candidate you would like to nominate, the Advisory Council is currently accepting nominations for the 2011 Executive Committee. The slate of candidates will be recommended to the EC at the annual meeting in New Orleans. Submit nominations to Bill Stephens, nominations chair.
In addition to identifying awardees and nominating the executive committee officers, the Advisory Council also reports on matters involving ethics and discipline, long-range planning, constitutional review and other special projects as requested by the Executive Committee.
