AAPG President, 2008-09

The AAPG has been growing in non-U.S. membership, which is a positive sign. A few years ago, the Executive Committee began considering various organizational constructs that would prepare the association for ongoing globalization. In fiscal year 2008, President Will Green put in place an ad hoc committee, chaired by Marlan Downey, to consider developing an overarching corporate structure for the AAPG that allows the Association to grow worldwide through its Regions, Sections and Divisions. The ad hoc committee was charged to consider the legal, governance and organizational structures that will encourage growth, maintain quality and protect AAPG financially and in terms of liability.

The fiscal year 2009 Executive Committee received the report from the ad hoc committee in January of 2009. The Executive Committee will meet via teleconference on January 28th and in person on March 2nd. At that time we will consider next steps and report on that “road map” in the next issue of The Delegates’ Voice.
