Officer elections were held at the annual AAPG House of Delegates meeting in Long Beach, California on Sunday, April 1st, 2007. George Bole, representing the Gulf Coast Section, was elected Chairman-Elect and Bob Webster, from the Southwest Section, was elected Secretary-Editor. George and Bob will join Marty Hewitt, Chairman, on July 1st, 2007 as the HoD officers for 2007-2008.
Members of the Nomination and Election Committee spoke with numerous delegates this past year about standing for office. Since only two officers are elected each year, there are many well-qualified candidates representing the local societies, sections and regions who have not yet served as a House of Delegates officer. Working as an officer not only serves the organization, but is also a very rewarding personal experience. We encourage any delegate interested becoming an officer to submit his or her name to the 2007-08 Nomination and Election Committee.
This completes the duties of the current Nomination and Election Committee. I want to thank my committee members for their recruiting efforts.
