The AAPG Foundation was established by AAPG in 1967. It is a 501(c)(3) public foundation, qualified to receive contributions in support of worthwhile educational and scientific programs or projects related to the geosciences. These contributions are tax-deductible to U.S. taxpayers.

The AAPG Foundation supports many scientific, educational programs including:

As reported at the recent AAPG House of Delegates meeting in Houston, the Foundation is financially very strong, with assets totaling $22.9 million. Total contributions for the year were $625,249. Total disbursements were $835,413. The investment portfolio is robust, with gains, both realized and unrealized funding the difference between contributions and expenditures.
