by George Eynon, Chair

Another year of the continuing chronicle of House business began SEPT. 1, leading up to the Dallas meeting on April 18, 2004. In fact, that's only 9.5 months, so the current leadership, committee chairs and committee members have a drastically foreshortened year in which to conduct the repeat pieces of business -- House Honors and Awards, Nominations and Elections -- as well as whatever new issues arise for the Constitution and Bylaws, Resolutions, Rules and Procedures, Newsletter, and Credentials committees, as well as an ad hoc committee.

This year there are more delegates on committees than ever before given the changes made in Salt Lake City -- several committees were increased from four to seven members -- and it was therefore more difficult finding the 61 delegates to serve on committees. I am pleased to say, however, that no one I asked to serve declined to do so (except those whose term was up that I drafted inadvertently), especially since I tried particularly to get new faces on board and met with some success. Thank you all for taking on the varied tasks of the House committees.

The committee reports and the list of committee chairs and members are provided in this issue. We sincerely ask that you read the reports carefully and then contact any of us directly with questions or comments you may have as a delegate, or that the members you represent might have for you.

We really mean that! Feedback to the various levels of AAPG leadership, directly from members, is the best mechanism to assure that the Association is managed in the manner we, collectively, want it to be. E-mails get an individual's attention; though it is often better to call someone directly, so don't be surprised if your e-mail elicits a telephone call by way of response.
