All
AAPG members should have received a copy of the All Member survey
inserted into the February issue of The Explorer. If you
haven't done so already, please take a few minutes to respond
to the Survey. You can use the paper copy from The Explorer
or you can respond on-line via the AAPG website. If you no
longer have the paper copy or you destroyed it while trying to
remove it from The Explorer, go to the AAPG website and
express your opinions electronically. This is a major attempt
by AAPG to gather feedback and opinions about a wide range of
member services, publications, meetings, short courses, field
trips, distinguished lecturers, the website, etc. Also, please
encourage your local society members to respond. The deadline
for submitting completed survey responses is April 11, 2003.
After
you've encouraged your local society members to participate in
the Survey, encourage them to participate in the membership drive.
The contest ends April 30, 2003. Recently, it became obvious to
me that there is a real opportunity for cross-recruitment within
local societies. Officers from two local societies contacted me
as they were preparing to elect new delegates. Both officers were
surprised to learn that there were many AAPG members in their
society's designated geographic area who did not belong to their
local society. By the same token, there are often local society
members who do not belong to AAPG. Now is the ideal time to recruit
members for both groups.
