Chairman
First
a note of apology regarding the previous issue of The Delegates'
Voice. It seems there was a lot of difficulty with the third class
postage mailing of the newsletter. It took three weeks for my
copy to go ninety miles. Some Delegates received theirs in three
days, for others it took a month; this won't happen again. By
far, the easiest way to receive a copy is to download The Delegates'
Voice off the AAPG Web page. Janet Brister did a wonderful job
in having The Delegates' Voice on the Web site in a very short
time after it was issued.
This
year seems to be flying by. Already, we have met in Laramie, Wyoming,
Champaign, Illinois and Austin, Texas at the Rocky Mountain, Eastern,
and Gulf Coast Section meetings. Each of these meetings was well
attended by the Delegates, AAPG Officers and AAPG Officer candidates.
This is a great way to relate HoD activities to our Delegates
so that everyone is kept informed of new proposals regarding the
AAPG Constitution and Bylaws and the HoD Rules and Procedures.
So far,
there appear to be four or five proposed changes in the AAPG Bylaws,
one proposed change to the AAPG Constitution, and possibly four
proposed changes to the HoD Rules and Procedures. More information
on these proposed changes can be found in the Committee reports
elsewhere in The Delegates' Voice. Please be sure to read
the proposed changes carefully and feel free to reply to me, or
the Committee Chairs, with your comments.
Our
HoD mid-year meeting of the officers, committee chairs and invited
guests will be held in Houston, Texas on January 11, 2003. At
this meeting, we will discuss the action items for the Salt Lake
City convention.
The
HoD Honors and Awards recipients have been announced. Thanks to
Bob Cowdery and his committee for expediting these names so they
can be recognized through the various publications and at the
convention next year. Likewise, the slate of candidates for HoD
offices for 2003-2004 have also been finalized. Sandi Barber and
the Nomination and Election Committee deserve a lot of credit
for putting together a very experienced list of names to lead
the HoD in the future. Congratulations to the awardees and to
the HoD nominees.
Please
feel free to contact any of your HoD officers or Committee Chairs
if you have any questions about anything. The list of e-mail addresses
will be included in each Delegates' Voice issue. Also,
please note that my e-mail address has changed to:

We hope you all have a joyous holiday season.
