The Delegates' Voice

Newsletter for the House of Delegates of AAPG

JANUARY 2002

Candidates for Secretary/Editor

Katharine Lee Avary

Iam honored to be a candidate for HoD Secretary/ Editor. I believe that AAPG has given me countless opportunities for professional growth and networking. Fundamental to these opportunities is communication. The Delegates' Voice is an important vehicle for communication among HoD members and if elected, I will work to further this tradition. I also have an interest in insuring that the listing of delegates by society on the AAPG website and in the AAPG Bulletin is accurate and complete. I refer to the website list frequently and believe that all members need to be able to easily determine who represents them in the House of Delegates.

Ronald L. Grubbs

It seems to me that some folks in AAPG have lost track of the fact that AAPG is first and foremost a scientific society. We often seem mired in political wranglings that do disservice to our science and our members. Recent events such as the disenfranchisement of EMD on the AC show that our Bylaws need to be reviewed with an eye to our basic purposes, an openness to including everyone's viewpoint, and a higher level of mutual trust in our fellow scientists. I accept this nomination in hopes of serving the society's better purposes and advancing these aims.
