JANUARY 2002

Chairman's Corner

by Ed Dolly, Chairman

By the time you read this Chairman's Corner, we will be finalizing plans for the Annual Meeting in Houston on March 10th. The agenda and pertinent enclosures will be mailed to all Delegates on or about February 1. In the interest of proceeding through the business meeting in a timely manner, please review those materials thoroughly prior to March 10th. If there are issues on which you intend to comment, please keep in mind that your officers request those comments be held to no more than two minutes. Likewise, we request that those presenting reports keep them as succinct as possible.

We held our mid-year meeting in Denver on November 10 with committee chairs and officer candidates George Eynon and Mike Party, officer candidate Lee Avary, committee chair Jeanne Harris, past chairmen Pat Gratton and Dan Smith, AAPG Executive Director Rick Fritz and HoD officers Terry Hollrah, Marty Hewitt and Ed Dolly attending. Thanks to the efforts of all our committees, we were able to discuss several final and a few interim committee reports. Many of these reports can be found in this issue of The Delegates' Voice. The final report of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee was published in the December issue of the Explorer, as well. Interim and final HoD committee reports are, or soon will be, posted on the Delegates' Forum at www.aapg.org.

As part of my Executive Committee responsibility, I am liaison to several AAPG committees. I'd like to tell you about one project of the Computer Applications and Internet Committee, chaired by Bret Fossum. Bret and his committee members have been working with all the other AAPG committees to establish a page for each on the AAPG Web site. Some have been placed on the Web site already and others are in the developmental stages. Soon, we Delegates will be able to follow AAPG committee activity via the Web site, as we now follow HoD activity on the Forum.

Delegates who would like to participate on a HoD committee next year are asked to e-mail Terry Hollrah expressing your interest. You may indicate which committee you prefer, if you have a preference, or indicate you will work on any committee as needed. The committees are Constitution and Bylaws, Credentials, Honors and Awards, Newsletter, Nomination and Election, Resolutions and Rules and Procedures. Terry's e-mail address is Send an email to Terry Hollrah..

I can be reached via e-mail at Send an email to Ed Dolly., by phone at (303) 299-1517, or by regular mail at Anschutz Exploration Corporation, 555 17th Street, Suite 2400, Denver, CO 80202, if you have any questions about HoD activities or just want to talk.

I look forward to seeing you in Houston on Saturday evening at the HoD reception and on Sunday morning for our annual business meeting, March 9 and 10, 2002 respectively.
