A. I. Levorsen Memorial Award BACKGROUND
The A. I. Levorsen Memorial Award was established as the result of contributions from many individuals and societies who wished to contribute a lasting memorial to A. I. Levorsen. A crystal award mounted on a wood base is given at the regional meetings of the sections of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists for the best paper, with particular emphasis on creative thinking toward new ideas in exploration. The papers are judged by committees established for each meeting and are presented through the local A. I. Levorsen Memorial Award Committee.
Only the authors presenting winning papers are recipients of the Levorsen Award. Their names are shown in bold type, with their co-authors listed in regular type.
