Annual Report 2007: FY July 1, 2006-June 30, 2007
GeoTours Committee (ad hoc)
The function of the committee on GeoTours is to design, promote, and recommend multiday field trips that integrate earth science, culture, and sociality for AAPG members and spouses interested in an overview rather than detailed learning. GeoTours should be an entertaining and/or recreational as well as a learning experience.
GeoTours ad hoc committee is tentatively planning on offering two tours for the 2008 season. One tour will be a 1752 Annual Report repeat of the Alaskan tour of 2007 but starting in Homer and ending at Prudoe Bay as a south-north transect of the geology and economic potential of Alaska. Limit is approximately 24 participants.
The second tour planned for 2008 is a seven-and-a-half-day raft trip down the Grand Canyon with Steve Sonnenberg as the trip leader. This trip will feature the geology, ecology, and history of this scenic wonder. Limit is 28 participants. Neither of these trips has been approved by the Executive Committee yet.
I continue to seek more committee members to enrich our choices of new trips and who are willing to do the legwork required.

Committee members: Terence L. Britt (chair), Patrick James Gooding, and Charles G Mull.
