Manuscript Submission to AAPG Bulletin
Digital Graphics
For guidelines on submitting digital illustrations, see Electronic Submission Guidelines for AAPG Bulletin. To learn more about acceptable file formats see the guidelines at Rapid Review http://www.rapidreview.com/AAPG2/GUIs/moreaboutfileformats.htm
Artwork Preparation
Oversized or color figures are published at the expense of the author.
- Identify all figures by number. Do not submit figures larger than 8 1/2 x 11 in., except with permission of the Bulletin Editor.
- Submit final figures on disk or CD, or as high-quality laser prints.
- Submit originals of final hand-drawn figures. Hand-drawn figures will be returned on request.
- Submit color photographs (1) on photo CD scanned at 300 dpi; (2) as good-quality prints no larger than 8 1/2 x 11 inches; or (3) as 35 mm slides (not duplicates).
- Submit black and white photographs as (1) images scanned at 300 dpi or (2) glossy prints no larger than 8 1/2 x 11 in.
Scales/Axes
- All figures must include scales.
- Axes must be labeled on graphs.
- Scale bars must be included on photomicrographs. If a slide is submitted, indicate the scale on a print of the slide and we will impose the scale on the image electronically.
Datashare
Authors of AAPG Bulletin articles or book chapters may share data files related to but not necessarily included in articles. Large data sets, spreadsheets, and oversized or animated images may be placed online on the Datashare page. The material will be referenced in the printed article and linked in the online version.Authors of AAPG Bulletin articles or book chapters may share data files related to but not necessarily included in articles. Maps, Cross Sections, and Seismic Lines
Each map should contain a scale bar, north arrow, and a sufficient number (minimum of one set at or near each extremity) of coordinate (latitude, longitude) points to position, orient, and scale it, unless its sole purpose is to locate in general terms a larger scale map. Each cross section and seismic line, as proprietary considerations allow, should be located on a map with the above basic information. If known, projection and geodetic datum information should be included. Satellite imagery, orthophotos, and similar metric photography should also be treated as maps. Authors are encouraged to submit, as supplementary documents, their maps originally prepared using the Geographic Information System (GIS) in a widely used geocoded file format (e.g., Arc Info, GEOTIFF).
