AAPG’s Summer Book Sale Slated for May 25-29
As I drove my kids to swim lessons yesterday, one of my favorite songs – Summertime by Kenny Chesney – came on the radio. As I tapped my toe to the beat, my thoughts fast-forwarded to my Memorial Day to do list.
We are hosting game night so there are friends to invite, menus to plan, groceries to buy, and at the top of my list: shopping at AAPG’s summer book sale which kicks off Friday, May 25.
A variety of products – 42 titles – are up to 50% off List price and there is something for everyone. Highway maps, available for each region of the U.S., are $4 each – 50% off member prices. With family vacations in my future, I’m buying a copy of all eight regions. I might as well get the audio cd’s Krakatoa and Crack in the Edge of the World to make those car trips more enjoyable.
For the kids I’ll pick up a K-12 book, Earthscapes. At $8 each, I’ll purchase a copy for each child and avoid arguments. For my husband, Return to the Moon and for me: beach reads – the Em Hansen and Frankie MacFarlane mystery series are a great value.
There’s also plenty of options for the geologist in your life. Eleven Memoirs, seven Studies, an Archie, a Hedberg, all of them are on sale. Topics ranging from the Color Petrography of Carbonate Rocks, to Seismic Imaging of Carbonate Reservoirs and Systems, Natural Gas Hydrates, the Petrophysical Evaluation of Hydrocarbons, Stochastic Modeling and Geostatistics, and many more.
So add one more thing to your Memorial Day to do’s: logging on to bookstore.aapg.org and snapping up your favorites before they are sold out. That’s how I’ll be spending my time this Memorial Day.
