On behalf of the Azerbaijan Society of Petroleum Geologists (ASPG) and Azerbaijan National Committee of Geophysicists (ANCG), AAPG Europe, SEG, EAGE LC and AIS we are pleased to invite you to the International Conference & Exhibition "Integrated Approach for Unlocking Hydrocarbon Resources" to be held in Baku, from 3-5 October 2012.
It is the first year that Geologists and Geophysicists have organized a joint conference in Baku. The conference aim to create a platform for geoscientists from different countries to meet, review latest technological advances and share experience. The technical programme of the conference will include all significant areas of oil and gas exploration and production, tectonics, sedimentology, geophysical and well-log data interpretation and regional geology.
Oil and gas industry in Azerbaijan has played a major role in context of energy security in the Caspian Sea region and Europe. The history of the oil industry of Azerbaijan dates back to the ancient period. It is one of the first countries where people learned how to produce oil and use it for medicinal and household needs. By the beginning of the 17th century, there were about 500 wells drilled around the settlements of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. By the end of the 19th century, Baku's fame as the "Black Gold Capital" spread throughout of the world.
Visitors who attend the Conference and Exhibition will get a chance to see the country and the conditions that exist there.
