The European Region of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, in partnership with AAPG, our parent international geoscience organization, is embarking on a new model, “rapid response,” topical regional conference, including field trips, continuing education courses, and a scientific and trade exhibition. We are excited to announce the ATHENS 2007 Energy Conference & Exhibition, 18-21 November 2007, at the Megaron International Conference Centre.
To provide the best offerings at an affordable price, we are asking for the support of industry and associates. Your sponsorship will help keep registration fees low and enhance the quality, while giving you the chance to put your name, image, and message of support before an important assemblage of key members of the geoscience community.
You may have sponsored the AAPG International Conference & Exhibition in the past, and for that we are grateful. In addition to those conferences, AAPG co-hosts and/or endorses other events, including this “super-regional” event.
The theme of ATHENS 2007 is “Challenge Our Myths.” The message is clear: Challenging our pre-conceived notions can generate rewards, but not without potential risks, as many of us have experienced. Creative approaches that maximize potential reward and minimize risk is the message of the program.
While the AAPG European Region is presenting the conference with the AAPG, we are reaching out to other AAPG Regions to assemble the best range of field case histories and in-depth examples of exploration techniques and opportunities. Geologic and geographic areas will include southern Europe, North Africa, the carbonate reservoirs of the Middle East, and international hot spots including Libya, the Caspian, and Russia.
