Greetings!
- I am pleased to inform you that the much-anticipated AAPG Africa Region Elections have ended successfully, with results as below.

- On behalf of our new team of Leaders for the Africa International Region and on my own behalf, I wish to say a big Thank You to all those, who faithfully exercised their franchise in the just-ended Elections. From the bottom of my heart, the same goes especially to those of you, who reposed confidence in me and the rest of the new team of Region Officers, HoD Delegates and Advisory Council representative.
- The very first Leaders’ Orientation Meeting was organized for our new Leadership on 8th May, 2008 by teleconference from the AAPG Headquarters, chaired by Carol McGowen, our AAPG Sections & Regions Manager. This initial effort, found to be most useful by all the parties involved, has been projected to become a monthly practice.
- I wish to encourage every one of our members - of all categories and without exception - to put their hands on deck and so make AAPG shine more brightly in our Region than ever before. Let us all help in our bid to enliven the mission/purpose of our great organization – i.e. to advance the science of geology, to foster scientific research, to promote technology, and to encourage high ethical standards in our professional practice. The bid to make AAPG more visible in our various environments should be the case in all our places of work, among our colleagues, friends, societies and even in our homes among our families, relations and friends.
- In the next couple of days/weeks, upon due consultation within the new Leadership, I shall keep you posted on tasks and projections ahead of us, especially as in our 2-year AAPG Africa Region Business Plan for 2008-2010. I believe that with this new start, all of us together have decided to walk the Region into a more positive future.
- I sincerely wish all of us, then, great success throughout the period of our new Leadership working together with each one of you to bring out the most desired results in our collective effort to push forward the aspirations of AAPG, first in the Africa Region, and then globally. I wish you great success through your contributions to AAPG, in your career aspirations, in your home/family lives as well as in your personal individual lives.
