Annell Bay was appointed independent director to the board of Apache Corporation in May 2014.  She is a member of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee.

Ms. Bay has more than 35 years experience in the oil and gas industry.  She most recently served as vice president of Global Exploration for Marathon Oil Corporation from June 2008 until her retirement in April 2014. Prior to joining Marathon, she was vice president of Americas Exploration for Shell Exploration and Production Company from May 2004 to May 2008.  From 2002 to 2004 she was vice president of Worldwide Exploration at Kerr McGee Oil and Gas Corporation. Earlier, Ms. Bay held positions of increasing responsibility in oil and gas exploration, operations and applied research at Chevron, Sohio, Oryx Energy and Kerr McGee. 

Ms. Bay holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology from Trinity University and The University of Texas at Austin, respectively.

Ms. Bay serves on the Advisory Boards for the Jackson School of Geology and the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas at Austin, the American Association of Petroleum Geology and at the Houston Education Center for the Independent Petroleum Association of America. In 2012, Ms. Bay was named in the 100 Women Leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  In 2013, she received the BioHouston award for Women in Science.
