Walter J. (Jerry) Sexton is a consulting geologist/sedimentologist with over 30 years of broad based geological experience. He has extensive experience teaching continuing educational training seminars, co-teaching/teaching over 200 week-long courses in the geological modeling of clastic depositional systems. He has consulted with numerous oil companies and has taught classroom and field seminars for Arco Oil and Gas Company, Apache, Encana, BP America, Shell Canada, Chesapeake Energy Company, and Suncor to mention a few. He has conducted research in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Central America, the Caribbean, Canada, and throughout the United States, including Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands. Dr. Sexton is the founder of his consulting company, Athena Technologies, Inc., that has been in business for the more than 20 years. The company specializes in marine sedimentation sampling and sediment analysis. His current research interests are estuarine and shoreface sedimentation and stratigraphy. He received his Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
